Gocek

Gocek is a small town in Fethiye district of Mugla province. It became a very popular resort town especially after 1980's, and mostly among sailing enthusiasts. There are many marinas in and around the town and several bays to anchor the yachts surrounded by pine forests. This is usually the departure or arrival point of Blue Voyage trips for many foreign and Turkish tourists. It's always busy with private or charter boats sailing in Göcek gulf in the Mediterranean. Nearest airport is Dalaman, approximately 16 km (10 mi).

The resident population of Göcek town is little bit over 6 thousand. It has a warm and humid climate in the summer and pleasant and mild weather in the winter. There aren't any big hotels in the town due to conservation regulations that prohibit huge constructions, but it offers many small pensions and boutique style hotels. There are small restaurants that offer typical cuisine and small stores to stroll in the town. One of the best activities while staying in Göcek is to hire a boat or join a daily boat tour to explore gorgeous small bays in the gulf.

There are many historic sites nearby Göcek, such as Letoon, Xanthos and Telmessos. Therefore it makes a good base to visit Lycian sites while enjoying the sea and nature during your stay in this lovely resort town.
